Workers at the Agriculture Ministry walked off the job today demanding better working conditions saying they have not had a pay raise since 2008.
One of the buildings they work in just off Friars Hill road is said to have the floor falling in and workers say they have no protective gear to work in the field.
They told Observer Media’s Tameika Malone that they have written to the government to have their concerns addressed and said while Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance Lennox Weston responded saying something must be done – nothing has been done to improve the situation.
The workers were this morning meeting with the Agriculture Minister and Permanent secretary to seek a solution.
