The ruling administration will be seeking to replace the aging power engines at the Black Pine Power Plant with renewable energy.
According to the weekly Cabinet notes, the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and the head of the Environment Division discussed the possibility of receiving funds from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to replace the aging engines.
The Antigua Power Company (APC) disclosed to Cabinet that the plant’s engines have only a short life left and, in order to continue to supply acceptable level of energy, the engines need to be replaced soon.
The Cabinet stated that it would take whatever steps were necessary to allow Antigua and Barbuda to gain funding from GCF.
