AFBAHLUR were crowned champions of the MPL Cool & Smooth Sherma Jackson Business League Softball Cricket Competition on Sunday.
The team, which consists of a number of departments within the Ministry of Agriculture, beat Time of Victory by six wickets when they met in the final of the competition at the Potters playing field.
Batting first, Time of Victory amassed 109 for five off their allotted 10 overs, with Essan Warner hitting a top score of 78 and Michael Greaves adding 15. Monique Titus was the pick of the bowlers for the victors, claiming two wickets for 23 runs in two overs.
AFBAHLUR then got to their target at 115 for five in 9.1 overs. Rodney Williams top-scored with 21 points, while Vincie Bowen added 19 to the effort. Melique Jacobs and Shaquan Hewlett each had 16 points. Stanley Farrell was the pick of the bowlers for Time of Victory with two for 17 in two overs.
Warner and Titus were male and female players of the final.
Meanwhile, TG Welding forfeited to Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force in the third place match.
AFBAHLUR also grabbed the best uniform award during the presentation ceremony. Kimberly Anthony had the highest individual score by a female with 65, with Titus claiming the most wickets by a female with 13 scalps.
Warner scored the most runs in the men’s category with 373 runs and also the highest individual score with 112. Taj Liburd was named the youth MVP.
