A 43-year-old man, who allegedly continued to terrorise his partner, has been remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison after the woman reported his latest attack to the police.

The couple had been living apart for a while now, but the investigation has shown that the Guyanese man had not come to terms with the wife’s decision to walk away from his alleged abusive behaviour.

The accused, who allegedly wounded his wife in recent months, was on bail for that offence when he reportedly attacked her and held her captive at his home about two weeks ago.

His wounding case is due for committal before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel-Edwards on July 17th, but because of the latest incident where he unlawfully confined his wife, the bail he was granted earlier was revoked. In addition, bail was denied for the unlawful confinement charge for which he was in court this week.

The court has set October 9th as the committal date for the recent incident. Since it is a domestic violence matter, the names of the individuals have been withheld at this time.

Just last week, the High Court jailed another man, Omarley Henry, for four years for the unlawful confinement of his ex-girlfriend and another 30 years for chopping and stabbing her to death after she broke up with him. Their relationship was described as very abusive.
