Political consultant pollster Peter Wickham is confident that the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party will be reelected in the next general election.
He is claiming that various factors are at play that will cement the ABLP’s victory at the polls.
He said, “The most recent opinion poll that CADRES did shows that there has been a growth in the level of support for the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party and if the elections were called now the Antigua Labour Party should win it and could possibly even grow their support, taking another seat.”
Wickham made these pronouncements during an interview with Observer media, marking the third year since the Labour Party’s victory at the polls.
The political analyst outlined some mistakes made by the current administration. “Governing presents some challenges and along the way there have been some issues that have come up regarding concerns about corruption. I wouldn’t say that corruption has been the flaw but the party has struggled a little bit to demonstrate the extent to which it has been transparent and open.”
He added, “There has not been a fulfillment in relation to some of the other major projects in relation to housing. The idea of instantaneous response in relation to all of the issues they hadput on the table, those would have been the areas in which they have fallen short. Employment also has not turned around as quickly and these are some of the concerns.”
