The Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s Premier League continued on Saturday with another triple header which saw ruthless displays from the Sandals Grenades FC and FC Aston Villa, while Garden Stars secured a vital win as 17 goals were scored.
Grenades FC were once again at their best demolishing Attacking Saints in a 9-0 rout, with Luis Cuidad Labrada netting a hat-trick including a penalty. DJarie Sheppard set the tone in the first half
with goals in the 18th and 29th minutes before the break with the scoreline being 2-0. The
bombardment of goals began when Eugene Kirwan extended the lead in the 51st minute, before
Tony Sanchez added one of his own in the 60th, Carl Osborne 65th, and Lester Joseph 72nd.
Labrada completed a memorable hat-trick with a penalty in the 77th minute, followed by strikes in the 87th and deep into stoppage time (90+5;39). FC Aston Villa were similar in the goal-scoring dominance of the Grenades with an incredible 6-1 victory over Potters Tigers FC. Joshua Ferdinand opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Rakeem Joseph struck twice (19&39, 28&39) to establish control, ending the first half 3-0. Ferdinand added his second in the 58th minute, and though Keon Greene pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 68th minute, Villa weren’t finished. Kwame Kirby in the 70th and Ferdinand’s hat-trick in the 89th rounded off an impressive display.
In a much more competitive affair, Garden Stars FC edged Green City FC 1-0 thanks to Sedique
Adams 84th-minute strike, securing all three points in a defensive battle.
