The Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA) revealed plans for an enhanced 2025 cricket season, featuring the return of their T20 tournament and the introduction of a new Two-Day President’s Cup competition.
The season will open with the ABCA’s Two-Day Championship on February 1st and 2nd, marking the start of what shapes up to be the most comprehensive cricket calendar in recent years. This traditional format sets the foundation for a diverse tournament schedule that spans multiple cricket formats. Powerhouse Liberta Blackhawks who are the Two Day and Super 40 Champions will be attempting to defend their titles for a successful three peat.
In a significant development for local cricket, the ABCA T20 Tournament returns to the calendar, addressing the growing demand for the popular shortened format with absence of the Cool and Smooth T20 Splash. The addition of the Two-Day President’s Cup further expands opportunities for players to compete in longer-format cricket.
The complete tournament lineup includes the Two-Day Championship, Super 40 Tournament, T20 Tournament, T10 Tournament, and the Two-Day President’s Cup. This structure provides players with exposure to every major cricket format, from the explosive T10 matches to the more strategic multi-day competitions.
The varied format approach aligns with modern cricket’s evolution while maintaining the traditional aspects of the game. By offering both quick-fire tournaments and longer-format matches, ABCA demonstrates its commitment to developing well-rounded cricketers capable of adapting to all forms of the game.
This expanded calendar signals ABCA’s intent to strengthen domestic cricket in Antigua and Barbuda, providing more competitive opportunities for local talent development.
