ABAA Announces Team To Compete In Regional Meet

Carifta 100 meters gold medalist in the under-17 boys’ division, Dwayne Fleming, will lead the team’s charge in Martinique.

Carifta Games 100m gold medalist, Dwayne Fleming, and Carifta Games triple jump bronze medalist, Alyssa Dyett, will lead an eight-man team as they travel on May 28 to Martinique to participate in the Friendship Games.

The Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) announced the team on Friday morning.

Fleming, who is a part of the PSE Track Club, and a student at the Princess Margaret School (PMS), will compete in the Under-17 boys 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay, while Dyett who is attached to Paramount Track Club, and a former PMS student, will take part in the Under-20 girls triple jump and 100m.

The other females on the team include Carifta Games heptathlete and PMS student, Mia Mcintosh (Paramount Track Club) who will compete in the Under-20 girls’ section in the 200m and 400m, and Geolyna Dowdy (Phoenix Track Club) in the Under-17 division in the 100m and 200m.

PMS’ Osei Gardiner (Wings Track Club), Antigua State College’s Zody Roberts (Paramount Track Club), Clare Hall Secondary School’s Cleon Joseph (Wings Track Club), and PMS’ Kasia Daley (PSE Track Club) round off the team.

Gardiner will compete in the Under 17 boys’ 200m, 400m and 4x100m, Roberts in the Under-20 100m and 200m, Daley in the Under-17 100m and 4x100m relay and Joseph the Under-17 4x100m relay.

Former sprinters, Kesswin Anthony and Sonia Williams will accompany the team as the two officials.
