Antigua and Barbuda’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Her Excellency Karen-Mae Hill, has donated several air conditioning units to the Antigua Girls High School (AGHS).

According to a press release, this donation was a part of an effort to provide a more comfortable learning environment for students and teachers.

High Commissioner Hill, who was a student at the school and has been a regular donor, contacted the school’s principal, Theoline Croft, following reports that students and teachers were affected by the lack of sufficient ventilation and the need to prevent it from impeding the quality of teaching and learning.

High Commissioner Hill had also visited the school and the block with the ventilation issue to evaluate the best possible solution.

Following the visit, arrangements were made to ship and install the air conditioning units free of cost to the school.

High Commissioner Hill said that as a proud past student, it is her duty to ensure that subsequent generations of students are not only receiving the best in learning, but that they are also getting it in the best environment, one that will foster academic growth and development.
