Young Lions FC jumped to the top spot of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Division 2 Zone 2 standings after recording a 2-1 victory over Abaya in Parham on Tuesday afternoon.

The round south team moved to 19 points on the 14-team standings, edging out BlueJays FC with a better goal average of plus 18 to BlueJay’s plus 16.

Jalan Willock was a goal shy of a hattrick for the victors, scoring in the 30th and 60th minutes, while Abaya’s Zedan Smith hit home in the 67th.

Abaya dropped to the 11th position with 10 points.

In the other Zone 2 match-up, National Parks English Harbour FC continued to struggle as they suffered yet another loss, this time at the hands of Real Blizzard FC.

The 2-1 defeat saw Tahari James (33rd) and Phillip McFarlene (65th) find the back of the net for the victors, while the lone goal for English Harbour came from Otis Polimis in the 14th minute.

Real Blizzard move to the 8th spot with 12 points, while English Harbour slumped to 13th with three points after eight showings.

Meanwhile in Zone 1, frontrunners Bolans FC suffered their first defeat of the season, edged out 2-1 by neighbours Jennings United.

Kemon Samuel (43rd) and Shaquille Browne (46th) were the goal scorers for the victors, while Defour Alexander got one back for Bolans.

Despite the loss, Bolans remain on top with 24 points, four points clear of second place team Point WestHam FC, while United jumped to 3rd with 17.

Former APL champions Bassa SC found their winnings ways once again, edging out Ace Trucking and Heavy-Duty Equipment Glanvilles FC 2-1.

Goals from Josh Donaldson (2nd) and Amarie Baptiste (80th) were the factors that moved Bassa to 8th with nine points, while Glanvilles remain 10th with seven.

Renato Archibald (9th) scored the lone goal in a losing effort.

In the other Zone 1 encounter played that day, Hon Molwyn Joseph Bendals FC and Blackburn Palace FC played to a one-all draw.

Kerlique Kellman drew first blood for Bendals in the 30th minute, but it would not be enough, as Xavier Marshall hit home in the 78th to give Blackburn a much-needed point.

Blabkburn now sit in the 5th spot with 13 points while Bendals are in 9th with seven.
