The Antigua & Barbuda Airport Authority has extended the deadline for at least three of the business owners operating at the VC Bird International Airport to submit their proposals for consideration.
The concessioners were given until February 22nd to complete their Request For Proposal (RFP).
But CEO of the Airport Authority Stanley Smith said the operators have been given additional time to complete the document.
“Of the three, we have received indication that they will be completing their proposals. So we have extended the time for them to complete the RFP,” Smith said during an interview yesterday.
It was, however, not clear how much time will be allotted to the vendors to complete the proposal.
The RFP is a document detailing the type of business and other critical information regarding the use of spaces allocated in the new terminal building.
Each tenant is required to present such documents to the Airport Authority for approval.
Smith said of the more than 10 vendors operating at the airport, about six of them will move over to the new facility.
OBSERVER media understands three of the six are Progress Music Shop, Flos Perfume Plus and the Best of Books.
Other vendors, told OBSERVER media, there are “waiting to see” how everything will unfold.
