Former top flight champions, SAP, will have to fight for their place in the Antigua & Barbuda Football Association’s (ABFA) Premier Division after ending the competition in the lone playoff spot.
SAP played to a nil-all draw with the Tryum FC on Sunday to end the completion on 18 points and eighth in the competition. They finished one point behind of Tryum who just managed to evade the playoff.
The Bolans men will now await the end of the First Division as they will compete against teams finishing third and fourth in that division in hopes of retaining their spot in the Premier Division.
Meanwhile, it was sweet revenge for the dethroned Greenbay Hoppers team as they defeated new champions Parham 2-1 in Sunday’s feature contest.
Novell Francis netted in minute 40 while Janiel Marquez scored in minute 72 to bring Hoppers from a goal down to take the contest. Hakeem Joseph had given Parham a 24th minute lead.
Hoppers finishes the competition in second with 37 points, seven points shy of winners Parham.
In the other match contested Sunday, Old Road defeated Empire 3-2 to secure a top four finish.
Stefan Smith scored a double with goals in minutes 22 and 61 while Steve Broderick secured Old Road’s victory in minute 87.
Kadeem Lewis scored Empire’s two goals in minutes 58 and 62 as they finish fifth in the 10 team standings.
