ST JOHN’S, Antigua – An early morning stabbing in shanty town today (Saturday) has resulted in the first fatality for this year’s carnival season.
Details remain sketchy, but the stabbing reportedly occurred in the vicinity of Shanty Town around 8:45 this morning.
The victim is understood to have been stabbed several times.
Police sources report the victim is 34 year old Mario James of Ottos.
Police report the stabbing incident occurred during an argument involving the deceased and two other men.
A broken bottle is reported to have been used as a weapon during the altercation.
One man is understood to already be in custody and another is being sought according to police sources.
This is the seventh unlawful killing of the year.
