ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Antigua & Barbuda’s super centenarian, 110 year-old Irene Carlos, will be given an official funeral on September 27.
Education Minister Dr Jacqui Quinn Leandro said Carlos would be given a three-volley rifle salute and a dignified farewell befitting her status as Antigua’s oldest daughter of the soil.
Viewing of the body will be from 11:45 am to 12:15 pm at Barnes Funeral Home.
The service will be held at the Freetown Methodist Church where Reverend Calvin Greenaway will preach the sermon. The eulogy will be read by Iothie Wyre.
Tributes will be given by the Freetown Community Group, Master of the Fiennes Alton Forde and teacher Benjamin Williams, her former neighbour.
Lessons will be read by Governor General Dame Louise Lake-Tack, Parliamentary Representative Wilmoth Daniel and Carlos’ sister, Gloria Carlos.
The body of the late Irene Carlos will be interred in the Freetown Methodist Church cemetery.
