More has been revealed in a continuing rift between the government and the UPP opposition, over each other’s involvement in an international bribery scandal.
During his budget presentation Friday, the Prime Minister Gaston Browne said he received new information, which he has passed to the ONDCP, which is investigating the matter.
He alleges that a UPP official is named in several documents.

Meinl Bank was an offshore entity which operated in Antigua.
It is alleged that through special software and coded names, Brazilian conglomerate Odebrecht moved around 1.6 billion US dollars as part of its global bribery scheme.
The UPP has called on the Prime Minister to say whether he had any involvement with the bank after his office was named in Brazilian court documents.
Yesterday Prime Minister Browne again denied any involvement or knowledge of the scandal.

Since the matter surfaced the Prime Minister has fired Honorary Consul Louis Franca and asked Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Casroy James for an explanation.
James’ name came up in Brazilian court documents as having dealt with the Meinl bank.
He has since denied any involvement in a bribery scheme or anything unlawful but has admitted to having once had a legitimate relationship with the bank as part of his consultancy business.
The government has officially said that James is still acting in his official capacity even though a high-ranking official had told OBSERVER media that he had been asked to stay away from official duties.
