ST JOHN’S, Antigua – PIC Insurance Liberta booked their spot in the finals of the Antigua Cricket Association (ACA) State Insurance Cup.
Liberta defeated Empire by 62 runs Saturday as they ended the round-robin preliminaries of the competition unbeaten, winning their 30th consecutive match in three and a half years in the cricket competition.
Liberta will now await the results of the Bethesda versus Police semi-finals before knowing which of the two teams they will face in Sunday’s finals at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds.
Liberta have, however, beaten Bethesda four times out of six for the championship while they have won two finals against Empire.
In Saturday’s semi-finals, Liberta were led by former national player Wilden “Polo” Cornwall who made 137, while there were knocks of 62 for Kadeem Phillip and 46 not out from Karima Gore, as they posted a total of 256.
