Cop dies from gunshot injuries

Trinidad – A POLICE officer who was shot five months ago during an attempted robbery died on Monday.
PC Mervyn Williams, who was attached to the Inter Agency Task Force, is believed to have died due to complications he suffered from the gunshot injuries.
Williams, of Chaguanas, was attacked by three men in August during an attempted armed robbery.
As he fought back at one of armed bandits, he was shot in the leg and scrotum.
The robbers ran off.
A report was made to the police and officers of the Central Division police apprehended one of the suspects.
Williams was treated then at the Chaguanas Health Facility.
An autopsy is expected to be done on Monday at the Forensic Sciences Centre.
