Sub-editor

The Observer Group of Companies is seeking a full time / part-time multimedia Sub Editor to cover a number of topics from a local and regional perspective. The chosen Sub Editor must have experience in multimedia (Broadcast of Radio, Web, TV and Print) and a deep understanding of Antigua and Barbuda and its political landscape. They should have a solid portfolio and a passion for covering numerous topics that educate the public on the latest, breaking news and community interest topics.

The ideal candidate is a versatile, self-motivated, go getting Sub Editor who can identify and proof read, sub-edit and rewrite important stories. The Sub Editor must be able to analyze, review and provide feedback to the journalists on a daily basis.

EDITOR

The Observer Group of Companies is seeking full time multimedia Editor to cover news, current events and issues from local, regional and international perspectives.   

Candidates must have experience in multimedia (Radio, Web, TV and Print).  They should possess a solid portfolio and a passion for covering numerous topics that educate the public on the latest, breaking news and community interest topics.

The ideal candidate should be a versatile, self-motivated, go-getting Editor who can identify, write and proof-read, important stories and topical editorials.  The Editor must be able to analyze, review and provide feedback to the journalists on a daily basis.  

Job requirements:

  • Flexibility and ability to work a shift schedule
  • Team Player
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the role
  • Institutional knowledge on political landscape
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Publishing or English is an asset
  • Added value: a Legal Degree
  • Experience in and understanding of Local and Regional Journalism and terminology is essential.  

In addition, the use of content management software is a plus

A valid driver’s license with access to and use of reliable transportation

JOURNALISTS

The Observer Group of Companies is seeking full time/part-time multimedia journalists to cover a number of topics from a local and regional perspective.

The chosen journalists must have experience in multimedia broadcast (radio, Web, TV and print) and a deep understanding of Antigua and Barbuda and its political landscape.

They should have a solid portfolio and a passion for covering numerous topics that educate the public on the latest, breaking news and on subjects of interest to the community.

Ideal candidates are versatile, self-motivated, go getting, able to identify and write stories of importance, and take photographs.

Journalists must be

• Able to work shifts

• Experienced – minimum of 2 years practising  local and regional journalism
• Knowledgeable in politics
• Formally trained – degrees in Journalism, Publishing or English are assets – Added value: degrees in Communications or knowledge of the law
