Community Group gets notice to quit premises

Members of the Bendals Community Group are outraged after being put on notice that they would be asked to vacate the building housing the community secretariat.

Acting Permanent Secretary Hildred Simpson Monday afternoon, told Secretary of the Community Group, Linley Winter that their permission to use the building has been withdrawn.

Winter told OBSERVER media that the community group has been using the premises, which doubles as the village clinic for about a year and a half, and had been meeting the necessary requirements for them to continue using the building.

However, despite their compliance, Winter said they first got wind, last Thursday, that such an action was pending.

Winter said the group is open to meeting with the representatives from the Ministry of Health to further discuss the matter.
