ST JOHN’S, Antigua- Clare Hall Seventh Day Adventist Church recorded the largest margin of victory to date in the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Inter-Church Cricket League, defeating Villa SDA by 56 runs when they clashed at Powell’s Playing Field on Tuesday.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Clare Hall posted a total of 83 for three in their 10 overs with a top score of 25 coming from Zack Thomas.
Villa, in reply, could only reach 27 before they were all out.
Thomas was also best with the ball as he bagged three wickets for five runs. Vernel Isidore did well with the ball, picking up two wickets for four runs in his two-over spell.
Also on Tuesday, opener Jermaine Frederick fell one short of a half-century as he slammed six sixes in a knock of 49 to lead St John’s SDA to a 19-run victory over Parham SDA.
St John’s posted a total of 88 for seven in their 10 overs due to Frederick’s heroics with the bat. Venston Lewis was the only bowler of note for Parham as he bagged two wickets for 22 runs.
When their turn at the crease arrived, Parham could only get to 69 for four in their allotted 10 overs. Lewis had a top score of 27, while Ken Jackson made 23.
Still on Tuesday, Freetown had the better of Buckley’s by 16 runs. Freetown, after opting to bat first, reached 65 for seven with Carol Lloyd hitting 17. Buckley’s could only reach 49 for nine in their reply with D Hurst, hitting 11 as a top score. Pete Lee bagged four wickets for nine runs bowling for Buckley’s.
Meanwhile on Monday, Tindall defeated Jennings by seven wickets, while New Winthorpes defeated Bethesda by six wickets. Pentecost also won their opening match when they defeated Bible Speaks, also on Monday.
On Sunday, Orion Liberta defeated Buckley’s by 80 runs, while Saturday, Bethesda beat Villa by 50 runs.
The competition is slated to continue on Saturday night with matches at both the Powell’s and Dredgers playing fields.
