Bahamas detain more than 100 illegal Haitian migrants

NASSAU, Bahamas, Apr 22, CMC – Police say they have intercepted a vessel carrying 132 Haitian migrants just off Ragged Island in the Bahamas.

The authorities said with the assistance of local fishermen, they were able to apprehend the illegal migrants, comprising 107 men and 25 women. They said six boys were also among those detained.

The authorities said that the illegal immigrants were transported to New Providence where they were being processed ahead of being returned to Port au Prince.
